About PADMEC

Portland and District Motoring Enthusiast Club was established in 2004.

Our club embraces all forms of motoring. Our membership has a diverse collection of vehicles ranging from Aussie, American, English, Japanese to other European gems.

Our membership of approximately 270.

Meetings

We hold a General Meeting on the last Monday of each month at the Portland Memorial Bowling Club, Cape Nelson Rd, Portland. Meetings commence at 7.30pm. Members are welcome to come earlier and have dinner. Please remember to book a table and mention that you are PADMEC Member.

Meetings are an opportunity to:

  • socialise with other members.
  • have paperwork signed for free
  • keep up to date with club runs and events in the district.

Meeting minutes are emailed to members and can be found electronically on our website. Attendance at meetings is recorded.

Communications

We are a paperless club relying on electronic communication with our members where possible. We use the following communications:

We rely on members having their details such as email and phone number up to date. This can be done at meetings or by contacting our secretary as listed in club contacts.

Club Runs

We hold a variety of events/drives as an opportunity to get our vehicles out and about. These are called ‘Club Runs’. We aim to have a calendar of events that allow you to become an active member within the club.

Details of Club Runs are available on the 4 communication methods mentioned above. If you have a suggestion for a run please contact our Run Captain as listed below in club contacts.

There are a variety of Club Runs including:

  • Local short runs, with perhaps a coffee and cake at a local café.
  • Longer runs to Warrnambool, Mount Gambier or Hamilton etc. These runs usually include a car show or motoring attraction.
  • Community events including fetes, shows, festivals or show and shines.
  • Car Trial or just a drive with mates.

Club Apparel, Logo and Stickers

As a PACMEC member you can have an embroidered logo on an item of clothing of your choice (t-shirt, beanie, hat etc). Squidlydids For Kids at 52 Percy St, Portland can embroider your item.

Our club has a vinyl sticker to go on your car, bike, window or panel. These are available at General Meetings.

Membership Applications and Membership

Membership application forms can be downloaded from the website or a paper copy from the Secretary or Treasurer. Applications, once received by the committee are tabled at the next General Meeting. Applications are approved at the following General Meeting. Please be mindful of this and roadworthy timeframes.

Membership payment is due 30 days after the AGM. Our membership fees are $45 per member. Membership can be paid at General Meetings or online. EFT payments can be made to:

Club Rules and Permit Signing Club Rules Download

There are a set of Club Rules that can be found on our website. These rules govern member conduct and procedures with the club. These can be found under the FAQ’s Tab.

Club Permit Scheme Registration Application Procedure page can be found on the VicRoads Website. Signing of registration forms can be carried out by, Hayley Jones (President), Tam Schultz (Secretary), Colleen Bell (Treasurer) and Martin Heppenstall (Web/Assistant Secretary) . The preference is to sign paperwork at club meetings.

PADMEC and the Wider Community

Our club hasan association with the Portland Memorial Bowling Club. Membership with our club includes social membership of the Bowling Club. Membership forms and cards are available for collection at General Meetings.

Our Club supports membersinvolved incommunity fund raising. A procedure to request a donation exist and must be completed and approved 2 months prior to the event. Please see a committee member for further details. Please be mindful that preference is given to motoring related events or groups.
